Chuno episode 19

Episode 19 was amazing, many fabulous fighting scenes and many emotional scenes too.
My favourite, by far was the scene where Tae Ha asks Un Nyun to stay and tells her that he wants to change the world. All three leads did an amazing job here. I especially applaud Oh Ji Ho – every emotion was conveyed with such a force. So far I thought that out of the two leads Jang Hyuk is a much stronger actor, but in this episode Oh Ji Ho has really excelled too.
The scene that made Alexandra Leaving cry as a baby: I don't understand too much of what is said and mostly rely on translation by hjkomo (thank you so much!), but really, the trio of leads do such a great job here that you can understand everything without words.
Un Nyun to Tae Ha: I am going to leave you

Little Prince: "Oh no, my surrogate mummy! Don't leave me!"

Tae Ha, left alone with his pride. Now he realises that he can't live without UN:

Un Nyun: "Young master, are you the same man that I loved?"

Dae Gil: No , I am not

Good bye

Dae Gil: But I still worship the ground you walk on:

Tae Ha, remember all the things you said and promised to her?

You love her more than anything:

Go and stop her:

And tell her to stay:

Un Nyun: hopes

Tae Ha, tell her that you'll change the world:

Un Nyun is torn, she is very much aware that Dae Gil is listening

Tae Ha, tell her you love her:

Dae Gil is very very sad and wishes he was Tae Ha:

Tae Ha, tell her some more good things:

Dae Gil can't stand it anymore and leaves.

Un Nyun: hopes

Tae Ha: hopes

There also was an awesome scene in the preview:
The Big Mountain Boss and Dae Gil start a fight:

Tae Ha steps in:

The Big Mountain Boss assesses Tae Ha's sword:

This is one big sword you have there!!!

Date: 2010-03-10 07:19 pm (UTC)I am afraid I am firmly on UN/TH ship by now - I was flipflopping but there it is.

Date: 2010-03-10 07:23 pm (UTC)One point got heavily highlighted , though, that DG as he is now is not at all compatible with UN as she is now. ** sad**
My only quibble is that when it looked as if UN is leaving, I wish DG said something about her brother. She was going to her brother's and the fact that the brother isn't already alive is extremely important. But may be DG would have followed her (secretly), most likely.
I also like how both TH and UN genuinely love the Little Prince. And how TH always holds him gently and lovingly. AWWWWWWW!

Date: 2010-03-10 08:32 pm (UTC)Plus, I prefer TH in general - he is a noble person and a heroic one, and DG is neither. I always go for 'good boys.'
I really do love that she loves them both though. For DG, her love is mixed with guilt and grief and is all too complicated by memory (she loves the old image not the new man). For TH - it's complicated by the shadows of young!DG in him and her marital sense of duty. I really don't think she loves one more than the other.

Date: 2010-03-10 09:40 pm (UTC)But then again, he can change? Back to the man he used to be? He clearly loves her so much!
As the character, I prefer TH too. The man able to see further than class distinction - my favourite thing ever. I know DG is the same, but in a way for TH it is a much bigger deal, he was the Prince's BFF, someone who is upper class of upper class, so to speak. Also sadly, ,DG's wish to change the world wasn't able to survive the adversities.
As OTP , I waver. I used to prefer DG/UN strongly because we weren't shown prior to this episode how much TH loves and needs UN. But the way he was heart-broken in the ep.19 - gosh, it was hot. Now I am torn. I vote in your poll DG/UN but then changed my mind. :D
Yes, I love that she loves both of them , and in this case it is so realistic - it would have been really odd if she didn't fall for TH when she thought DG was dead. Those life-long obsessions over dead people - I don't really believe in them, everyone moves on. But when DG re-appeared, it is only realistic that the old feelings flooded back.
On the side note, kuddos to the creators - they really balanced the two characters nicely . I will be not surprised if the fan's preferences between DG and TH separate almost equally.

Date: 2010-03-10 09:49 pm (UTC)I think he can change but only to an extent - he cannot revert to his sweet idealistic self of a decade ago - he can't negate his experiences. I can see him being able to fight for a good cause out of personal loyalty but I don't see him becoming an idealist again, not really. He's seen and done too much.
But the way he was heart-broken in the ep.19 - gosh, it was hot.
If you think about it, it makes sense. Even DG had more of a personal life (with Choi and Wangson) than TH did in the last decade. Without UN he has no one.
Those life-long obsessions over dead people - I don't really believe in them, everyone moves on
Tbh, I think she would have moved on much much sooner even than 10 yrs if it wasn't for the fact that she lived a properly isolated life as an upperclass woman and it was comfortable and safe to dwell in the past so she never allowed herself to be jolted out of it. If she was out in the world meeting all sorts of people - who knows, she could have moved on in 5 years instead of 10.
I will be not surprised if the fan's preferences between DG and TH separate almost equally.
This worries me. The last drama that did that was Damo and we all know how it ended.

Date: 2010-03-10 10:39 pm (UTC)He can at least revert to talking and eating properly. I have seen some "Oh! Horror!" glances from UN in the ep.19 (not as if I blame her :D).

yes. But it makes sense that DG is so hung up on her. In a way, she represents his past life and she ALSO represents the fact that he lost everything.
The best indication, I think, is CitC ending. SOmeone has to die and someone has to live. I am almost 90% sure UN will survive, for the sake of the Little prince and also for the sake of TH's baby (she is bound to have a baby. I don't remember a single drama where we were actually shown that people sleep together and there were no baby).

"Oh! Horror!" glances from UN in the ep.19
ROFL.
But yes, in DG's case it makes every sense - he has nothing else, he has lost everything and she is the only thing (he believes) he can recover.

ROFL.
Like here , upon listening to a conversation between DG and the Big Mountain Boss, they must have been talking some silly stuff: (the Little Price disapproves too :D):
And yes, I imagine he smells too. :D

Date: 2010-03-10 11:02 pm (UTC)I bet TH smells too though - he did just get out of torture chamber/prison :)
UN must like rough guys :)

Date: 2010-03-10 11:06 pm (UTC)I bet not as much. He would have had a chance to wash at the Qing's general place. Ancient China used to be very advanced. :D
UN must like rough guys :)
She definitely like good fighters. :D

Date: 2010-03-10 08:40 pm (UTC)Now TH really have a strong reason to change the world. before his mission was based on his loyality to people who served as general but now is out of love because he wants the world a better place for a person he loves the most.
here my fears about his death starts. i can see that he'll go all the way to make sure the world is changed and there are no slaves and because he is doing it out of his love for UN, he would not rest until it happens even if ends with his death.
i also feel DG pain so much too. god, these two charcaters are killing me. i really need to see this as soon as poccible.
thanks again for your caps.

I know! I half want/half fear that TH will end up leading the slave rebellion.
But on the other hand, I have a tiny hope. He is such a good person that there isn't any need for him to die, right? For example, DG is broken inside and I can't really see how he can be fixed, but Th is someone who can lead a long and happy life with his family????
