I was a huge fan of the original series - 15 years ago I was terribly keen on anything to do with aliens , any aliens really, but reptilian carnivorous aliens ready to take over our world in particular . And even when I re-watched the original series 4 years ago, it still felt good and scary (in a good way). The new series? I am not sure about it yet. The two biggest minuses so far are that the new series lost the Nazi allegory without replacing it with anything coherent and that the dialog is very stilted to the point of being ear-grating. The third minus is that Elizabeth Mitchell (in the role of Erica Evans) can't act - she comes across as too smug and self-righteous. Even if she was a better actress, she would still always look like a twin of Anna Torv from "Fringe" and two blond look-a-like federal agent ladies in two quests of saving the humanity is too much for my screen. To add, Erica's son (as portrayed by Logan Huffman) is the creepiest young boy alive who would have better suited a role in one of "Twilight" adaptations. I must have missed something - he is V, right?
But! Anna-the-alien-dominatrix is wonderful. Speaking of the good acting - who would have thought that Morena Baccarin can successfully play this evil but appealing creature? And that she and Scott Wolf can make such a lovely love/hate pair? Besides these two, I also loved Joel Gretsch as Father Jack Landry , but I am easy here - I have a soft spot for enthusiastic pastors. I think I am going to continue to watch V, for the secondary characters' sake.
I couldn't resist to post this:
