Internet-dependency and Internet-security
May. 10th, 2006 03:23 pmI have read an article in “Izvestia” ( Russian version of Guardian???) about Internet-dependency and Internet-security. Artilcle is unfortunately in Russian, There.
Few things were interesting, though sometimes questionable:
• IT specialists suffer less from Internet-dependency
• Main symptom of Internet-dependency is spending more then 40 hour per week in the Internet.
• Some LJ users have their LJ’s publiched as books, cookery recepies and so on!!!!! Is it true??????
• Many people use Internet to communicate with people from other countries! Psychologists consider this communication to be beneficial. (** Sighs with relieve.** This is me!!!)
• The authors of the article talk about the case when Uriy Vitushkin (their programmer-expert) had a rude user in ICQ. And found his mobile number in 20 minutes.
• I don’t have a deep enough knowledge in Internet technologies, but I have enough prior knowledge to make me feel that my anonymity in Internet-land is very questionable in the first place. This is why I want to stop using friend-locks and all such things - I used to use lock to filter the information which can help to identify me. But - Why bother?? If somebody can easily find my IP address??
• I think (I could be totally wrong) that 99.999% of people are generally nice and normal and then can I stop using friend-locks and such? I don’t know anyone in LJ face-to-face yet, everybody I have met on the Internet. I don’t write about anything really personal, everything I write about I discuss with my RL friends freely..
• And for the 0.001% of some crazies – I bet they will have knowledge of the Internet far beyond any of mine. Because crazies have all the time in the world to do crazy things
