Update: as according to IMDB, New Moon broke the opening-day gross record, collecting 73 million in USA. mamma mia! The world is coming to an end!

- Once again, it wasn't the worst film of all times, and it was even better than "Twilight"
- Edward is still creepifyingly morose, and Robert Pattinson still can't act to save his life. He so visibly hates every moment of this film and Bella in particular, and thinks of how he hates it all when doing tender kissing scenes. This produces very amusing effects.
- Good special effects work on wolves and human/wolf transformation
- Taylor Lautner is a very good choice for Jacob.
- The scene with Volturi was really good , as if implanted from another, much better film. Michael Sheen is rather awesome as Aro.
- The scene of Laurent's death (although very short) was rather good too.

- Every time Jacob took his shirt off (and he did this often) the movie theatre went crazy.

You know, I have my issues with both Edward and Jacob in the books. I don't think I'd like either of them very much, but just going on looks? I will never understand how Bella could have picked creepy, corpse-like Edward Cullen over Jacob and those machine guns he has for arms now.

I have major issues with everyone in the books, especially Bella. I think I must have skipped few bits when reading because it never glared so much at me - GOSH! Isn't she a totally devoid of any interesting feature doormat???

Taylor Lautner is in some romantic comedy next(Valentine's day or something)- I am so watching this!

I found everyone in the books so dull and it's surprising because I first read Twilight when I was 15 so I was at that age where the books should have been a perfect fit for me. But I just found Edward to be so utterly boring. I mean sometimes you read a novel and you get this very vivid idea of how the characters are and how they express themselves, but this book just left me completely blank on the characters.

OH GOD. I'll watch it.

Hahahaha! I sort of agree. Not to that extent as you, but yeah, he did seem too pained. Kristen's coldness didn't help that either. They had zero chemistry this time around. All their kisses seemed so passionless.

Unfortunately, as much as I didn't mind Lautner at some points, the storyline of the middle part of the movie was just so boring. It reminded me of HBP, the way one waited for something to happen, but nothing ever did.

Says a lot that to me the best scene in the movie involved a minor character. Victoria, I'm talking to you, you fierce thing!

I am wondering - everyone knows how he hates "Twilight" , what keeps him doing the films?

Hee! I wasn't really looking for any story here, not with the ARMS of steel and nifty wolves!

Edit: and yess! I liked Victoria too. Isn't she the new actress?

He signed a contract to do 3 movies from the start. Can't get out of that one. Plus it's given him world-wide fame and so many options for future jobs.

I never liked buff guys, so I wasn't as lucky as you... I'd choose a willowy, pasty-ass corpse, too. ;)

No, this was the old actress who got fired after this one, the new one is in the third installment.

Heee. I've read several reviews saying that Jacob's bare chest is the film's only redeeming feature...

Date: 2009-11-22 07:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
But it was a very nice redeeming feature. :D I am fighting an urge to watch it again, just for the bare chest's sake.

To be fair, the special effects were also quite decent, much better than is the first movie.

Was there any explanation of what evil force posessed him to cut his hair? He and his hair people were the only redeeming part of the first film for me.

Date: 2009-11-22 08:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
I liked the hair too. :D This was one of the weird things that is never explained in the movie (shows the consistency issues, huh?) but is explained in the book. Apparently there was a correlation between how much hair they have in human form and and how long their hair was in the wolf form. It was summer and it was too hot to run around with shaggy hair. :D

hahaha, this might be the one and only reason why such a movie could be worth to be watched :D I am not a Twilight person at all, but I've watched a few bits and pieces due to the 24/7 promotion all around, and gosh, I think Kristen Stewart is probably the worst and less appealing actress ever!

Date: 2009-11-22 08:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
Kirsten Stewart is horrible, in Russian we have an expression for the acting like hers - like a wet fish. And no wonder indeed Robert always wears an expression as if he eat a lemon whole, or as if he has constipation!

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

the one and only reason I would ever watch New Moon.

But I think you just convinced me to watch it in theatres instead of on DVD. (too bad I can't fastforward through the Robert Pattinson scenes, but whatever)

I must warn you about Bella, though! If you thought that Jan Di was a wet blanket, Bella is just a totally disintegrating emptiness. The worst possible role model of ever!

I was trying to ignore it too, until I saw flmi_girl's post with Taylor Lautner's pictures. This was the end of me - I was right there in the theatre on Saturday and dragged my friends with me, adding to the record box office! :D

YES!! I watched Twilight with two of my girl friends several weeks ago and we were laughing hysterically at Edward. I kept going, "Ouch...School" or "Ouch...Car" depending on where he was when he made his "hate face."

On the other hand, I will watch anything with Taylor Lautner. :D

Hmm, you are the second person to say this movie was decent enough or better.

I was going to wait until the DVD came out but now I think I may watch it in the theaters.

Hee I don't think it is decent :D, but at the same time - I have seen worse, much worse. :D It also better that the first one , that's for sure. There were no redeeming features in that one where this one had half-naked Jacob and Volturi.
