As for HP, I must admit that I stopped watching the films after Prisoner of Azkaban, so I guess I cannot comment properly. I just became so utterly bored with the whole concept, and particularly the narrative formula of following the school-year. It just bugged me that Voldemort's great scheme always came together in the Spring term, rather than in the autumn term. ;).
You actually hit one of my main problems with the series (apart from general blandness and non-originality). Every win of Harry's in his perennial duel with Voldermort is incredibly contrived.
I held my defenses for a long time, but now I have read the books and have watched all available HP films I feel I need to watch them to the end. For completeness sake..
