alexandral: (Sita sings the blues - feet)
[personal profile] alexandral
"Sita sings the blues" is an amazing phenomena, on many levels : it is a gorgeous animated musical film, it created new directions for computer graphics and it is a story that makes you think. I can ramble for ages as to why does it always seems to be that the best things in life are free ("Sita sings the blues" is a free-download animation), especially why the best works of art never happen to make too much money for their
creators. May be there is something about art that doesn't work well together with the money-making aspect of it.

Anyways, I rarely say this because everyone's tastes are different and something I like may not necessarily suit others, but I think "Sita sings the blues" is an exception :

EVERYONE MUST WATCH "SITA SINGS THE BLUES". IT IS AWESOME. Thank you so much for the rec, [livejournal.com profile] baleanoptera

Yes, I have. Wasn't perhaps as blown away as some of you, but I found it a very charming little movie. I love the "Who's that knocking at my door" song when Sita sings the "who" part and her lips wobble. :D

This movie appeals to my programmer part. I LOVE the way everythignis made, the rocking motion, the endless circle which encompasses everything.

I have to admit that I never have heard of it. Downloading as I write this.

The strong colours (http://outnow.ch/Movies/2006/AzurEtAsmar/Bilder/) remind me of another animated movie, Azur and Azmar (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0439123/) (which I haven't seen either), as well other animated movies of that director.

I was recommended this by [livejournal.com profile] baleanoptera. I am so curious to know what would you think of it..

Oh, thank you so much for the rec- I have never heard of these.

"Sita" had some very nifty and original animation techniques - I am (again) curious as to what would you think of it.

My backlog of things I want to watch is pretty big right now. But I promise to let you know once I've watched it. :)

As I've mentioned I haven't seen Azur & Azmar, but I'm sure you'll be able to find some info to decide if you might like the movie or not. Here's a trailer (http://hd.uk.mediaplayer.allocine.fr/uk/medias/nmedia/18/65/74/46/18795935_fa1_vo_hd.flv) if you like to.

I loved the nifty animation techniques that were used in the film - the tiny detail of everything and the rocking motion.

I am so glad you like!

I LOVE shadow puppets, although my favourite Sita animation style was the very detailed intricate one used in the beginning and the end sequences .

That was my favourite animation style as well, though I really liked how all the different styles helped organise the film.

I loved this too. I also though that the rocking motion was pretty innovative and gave the film a very soothing feeling.

I have just found your journal. What a wealth of images, and so beautifully done. You have a splendid eye. From this post I've taken #2, 24, 28 and 33, and will credit when used. The images in this film are amazing, and I'm going to order this film through Amazon, as I don't think it will make it to the popular theaters here, and I live far from any city large enough to have an art theater.

Since I've just found you, I suspect I'm going to be taking many more icons from different posts, so I'm afraid you'll be bombarded with comments from me over the next few days. Please don't feel obliged to reply to them all.

Thank you for these wonderful images.
