Back from Moscow

We had wonderful holidays in Moscow. I am still feeling a bit jet-lagged, but happy at the same time.

Major highlights:

- Precious time spent with the family

- Missing you all

- Meeting fabulous rika_66 again.

- Much ice-skating done, including Red Square.

- Sasha and I never get tired of the Tretyakovsky art gallery.

- Museum of History in Moscow: Gold Exhibition and a 8 BC boat made out of the whole piece of wood.

- Nutcracker in the Bolshoy theatre was absolutely magical.

- We went to a Cat Theatre. And it was great!

- Moscow is huge, full of MILLIONS of people and has some of the largest shopping malls known to a man. These malls are so huge that they have whole ice-rinks inside.

- Watched Strugatsky's adaptation, The Inhabited Island. Truth to be told, visually the film was a patchwork of shamelessly stolen bits from "Matrix", "Equilibrium" and even "Battlestar Galactica". But I liked it because : 1) Strugatsky!!! 2) Vasiliy Stepanov is jaw-droppingly pretty. He can't act but this doesn't stand on the way of his good looks:

There were lots and lots of snow, in fact the snow fell every day when we were in Moscow. And the weather was nice - -3-5 at first and a bit colder at the end of the trip (when we already adjusted).

Oh, nothing much... everyone is going gaga over Boys Before/Over Flowers, the Korean Hanadan. *g* I haven't seen so much flailing since well, Moonlight. Even your's truly can't hold out for subs so I'm watching each episode raw first.

I think I am going to be the only person in the fandom - but I don't intend to watch "Boys over Flowers", I feel this story has been a bit overdone for me. :D I am watching "Terroir" with a great interest at the moment. :D

Welcome back, and I'm so glad to hear you had a good time - I especially smiled to read this line: Sasha and I never get tired of the Tretyakovsky art gallery which made me picture you and Sasha wandering through an art gallery. Since I'm so fond of art and galleries, I love it when children display a similar enthusiasm!

I won't be watching Boys Over Flowers, either. I have far too many other things going on, and I couldn't even make it through the second series of HYD.

And snow in Moscow! Sounds heavenly. :)

Tretyakovsky is the Moscow's Russian Art Gallery, it was founded by P.M.Tretyakov in 19th century (http://old.tretyakovgallery.ru/english/). I am also very happy that Sasha enjoys it.

I seem to in the mood for more grown-up dramas recently and my likes are rapidly shifting towards jdramas.

I must say, I was totally unprepared for some of the new MEGA shopping places they had built in Moscow. And for the way everyone is mad about ice-skating.

But I have heard that Germany had some record-breaking winter weather too. :D

I am so sorry I didn't have a chance to see you, but Sasha didn't want to let me go on my own too much. I kept thinking about you in Tretyakovsky, whilst explaining to Sasha about "Holy Trinity" and why it is so great. She loves it, but her favourite is "Ivan the Terrible and his son.." (and "Morning in the pine forest") :D

Yes, this was the one! It is called "Kuklachev's theatre" in Moscow , from the name of the founder. I loved it, there was so much love, cats seemed to be enjoying themselves and all the tricks were "cat safe" !

And if you ever do get in the mood for a school story, Korean Hanadan is really good :). Their version of Domyouji is already my favourite of all the adaptations I've seen (Taiwanese and Japanese).
