Prologue
Strong girl characters rule.

What is it about?
Yoon Jae-hee (played by Jun Do Yeon ) is a daughter of the Korean president and a diplomat in Prague. Five years ago she had a sweeping Prague-based romance with Ji Young-woo (profession: lawyer, played by: Kim Min Joon). He was called back home unexpectedly by his father (whom we will call evil from now on), leaving Jae-Hee with a promise to marry. But he didn't come back.

Choi Sang-hyun (played by Kim Joo Hyuk) is a noble and scruffy-looking policeman, a receiver of the Presidential award for his duties. He and Jae-Hee meet in Prague (don't worry, they all go back to Korea after 2 episodes) where Sang-hyun has been looking for his run-away fiancee (played by Yoon Se Ah) who announced to him that they are "finished" on the day of his Presidential award.

What is good about it?
1. Yoon Jae-hee is a bright and spunky lady. She knows what she wants and she goes for it. If you are tired of string of ladies characters that need male rescuing – this is for you. If you would like to see a female character who has got it all – this is for you. She even runs a marathon and speaks few different languages.

2. Yoon Jae-Hee is played by the Korea finest, Jun Do Yeon, the second EVER Korean to receive the Cannes Festival prize that was given to her in 2007 for the Best Actress in Secret Sunshine.

3. Both Choi Sang-hyun and Ji Young-woo are strapping lads and if you don't like the one you can always be a fan of the other and keep the secret OTP close to your heart. Ji Young-woo (played by Kim Min Joon from "Damo") is an excellent angst-er. He is a very decent human being and there were very valid reasons for his disappearance from Yoon Jae-Hee's life. These reasons have something to do with his evil father's evil plotting.

4. This is a drama of "1% of Anything" school of thought. It doesn't just have one main OTP but few more supporting OTPs. Some of which are very nice.

5.- There is an awesome wheel-chair bound male friend of Yoon Jae-hee. He is a FRIEND and not someone secretly in love with her. And he gets to have his own OTP (see 4).

6. One of my personal reasons: lovely Jang Geun Suk (ake the Prince in Hong Gil Dong) plays Yoon Jae-hee's younger brother. And he gets his own cute OTP too!

7. The script is very witty. Mr. Alexander was passing by during one of the scenes and it made my no-nonsense dearie laugh. The subs for my copy were also above average.

8. Special reason for [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore: Yoon Jae-Hee is tiny and has a big hight difference with both Choi Sang-hyun and Ji Young-woo.

Yoon Jae-hee and Choi Sang-hyun

Yoon Jae-hee and Ji Young-woo

As you see by his strange fashinon sense in hats Ji Young-woo is not going to get the girl in this drama.

Yoon Jae-hee with some American dude. She is so gorgeous. This is the way Choi Sang-hyun sees her for the first time. A totally hilarious scene follows in which he takes he for an escort lady.

The runaway fiancee. I ended up feeling for her because of her many woes even though she wasn't particular loveabe but was rather whiny. She got pregnant from the evil father of Ji Young-woo and told Choi Sang-hyun how much lower he is than the evil father because he has no money.

Choi Sang-hyun: I love his "scruffy and manly" style.

Jun Do Yeon is a very pretty lady:

One of Ji Young-woo's half-brothers, twisted but attractive Ji Seung-woo ( or Andy from Shinhwa ). I was harbouring his OTP with the runaway fiancee.

The awesome wheel-chair bound friend of Yoon Jae-hee.

The Prince from Hong Gil Dong sheds his gloom and acts as the teenager brother of Yoon Jae Hee:

His OTP (a strong girl character too!)

The kissing scene. A v.v. good one and lasts at least a minute. He grabs her.. then this happens:

In a case you are still not convinced:

PS: I haven't seen "Secret Sunshine" yet and will be very thankful for any information!

Aw! I may have to watch this now! I love little Emo Prince! :D

Plus, scruffy policemen are a fictional weakness of mine.

This was one of the reasons I watched this drama. :D But it is very good drama, I must say. Fast-paced and amusing.

Plus, scruffy policemen are a fictional weakness of mine.

Mine too! Especially when like Choi Sang-hyun they have a great dead-pan sense of humour and are all "heart of gold under the rough exterior".

I love the wheel-chair bound guy. He was also wonderful in Lovers in Paris. He always play such wonderful, loyal people.

** agrees ** I am a huge fan of non-romantic relationships in dramas (or anything). Male friendships or a guy being just friends with a girl.. I love them!

Thank you so much, dear! I promised this to meganbmoore.. I haven't heard about this drama prior to my all things "Lovers" obsession so I thouhg that "what is all about" post is in order.

It was similar to "1% of anything" or "Coffee Prince" for me - I really enjoyed it but without getting terribly obsessed. May be because this drama is more girl-centered and generally has a happy feel with great humour..
