They're almost "raw" in the sense that they are not "beautified" like some other artists seem to do, but they are not hideously ugly, either. And yes, I believe her name was Elizabeth Siddons, and she was the muse for many artists, IIRC. If we are to accept Rossetti's depictions of her as lifelike, then I would say she had a very dramatic form of beauty.
What do you think of John William Waterhouse?
