Three New loves

+ School holidays!!!! We have been about 100 times in the library and watched 3 films in the cinema (restricted as 1 film per week on the bargain day) with my daughter and her friend Ben, We watched :

-Garfield 2 - Very adorable and cat-oriented
-Monster-house - Very good visually, but I am still not sure about PG rating it gets – the film’s story had some moments which were a little too gross for me.
-Ant-Bully Lovely and promoting team values.

+ The Best THING EVER is that I have found that our library has a full trilogy of Garth Nix (“Sabriel”, “Lirael” and “Abhorsen”) and I borrowed all three books! I am reading “Lirael” at the moment and I like it even more then the first book “Sabriel”. I think this is because I like Disreputable Dog too much for words :). But honestly, there is something in the way Garth Nix writes the books which is really seamless and elegant and grabs my attention so that when I pick his books I can’t put them down.

+ I have watched Prison Break yesterday and now I am not only a huge fan of most attractively intense Michael Scofield, but I am also a HUGE fan of the agent Mahone. Because he is so ascetically attractive and focused and I love this kind of thing.

+ I had to re-watch some of the bits of Long Vacation (Japanese drama, shortened to jdorama) and I am still buzzing with the feeling “I found something new and great”. Thank you very much everybody on my friends list who was talking so much about doramas! This is a new thing which is going to be a huge love, I feel it! (Even if it means bad download speeds :)

+ Work is BUSY and I am buried under the various things. I like being busy, actually. And my last system (Our University’s on-line phonebook) seems to be a success with everybody!

+ Bart-the-Cat is growing to be a really beautiful cat. All my previous cats seemed to be scruffy fellows, but this one is sleek and shiny and gorgeous.

I wonder how the actors do it - or is it a part of actor's actual personality?

I'm not sure either, it probably is acting skill infused a little with an actor's personality. one thing I don't think I mentioned in my LJ or anywhere else is how much I liked how they set up the introduction of the character of Mahone with the recap of last season. normally I don't like it when a show does a recap but having the cons and their crimes listed off was a good way to help new viewers(or returning ones who may have forgotten a few things)catch up.

with Veronica/RT sometimes a character just doesn't workfor whatever reason. I don't know if you have ever watched it, but I am reminded of the character of Mandy from the first season of The West Wing. She was played by Moira Kelly who is a very good actor but the character was extremely unpopular. It just wasn't a good fit for her and Mandy didn't return in the second season. in fact she just kind of disappeared which is strange because TWW was always pretty strong on continuity in the early years. but the character was so unpopular I think they just wanted it be like she never had existed;)

I thought absolutely the same - it was a very elegant way to refresh the viewer's memories!!!

This is the another thing which keeps me wondering - do the creators look into popularity of the characters or do they just follow their own vision? I suppose they compare who is popular and who is not, but can they be actually influenced by the fan's opinions to make or cancel certain storylines?

I think it depends on the individual creators/producers but fan reactions definitely can influence things especially when the showrunner is someone like a Rob Thomas(of VM) or a Joss Wheadon(Buffy,Angel,Firefly) who are active online and pay attention to the fanbase. RI remember seeing Rob Thomas saying that the majority of the fanbase will not except Veronica and Logan with any other characters be it Hannah, Leo, Duncan whoever. and while I am glad Duncan is gone and I know that you are a Logan/Veronica shipper(and I respect that and their fans I mean I was S1 and they do have fabulous chemistry), that actually kind of bugs me. because I have a lot of issues with L/V. and I will probably be elaborating on that topic on my LJ after I get the S2 DVD set. I plan on watching S1 and S2 back to back. so expect a really long VM post from me soon

Very interesting! Up to a point I thought that fan base opinions don't make much impact at all.. Well, after my Kara/Lee disappointment, though I suppose it is silly to assume that ALL fans are Kara/Lee shippers, but the numbers participating in their communities must be telling something :)

I think it can be restricting for the creators. It could be difficult to maintain Veronica/Logan relationship interesting and at the same time not to go into "the country of wild geese" (this is Russian expression for something silly).

I totally respect your opinion as concerining Veronica/Logan - it will be interesting to read your thoughts!!!!!!!

oh, I accidentally posted that last one before I was done! forgive any strange editing, spelling,grammatical, logical mistakes.

anyway, I know Joss Wheadon axed the character of Riley because most of the fanbase never warmed to him. with Prison Break I think fan reaction definitely had something to do with Veronica's exit.

and then there are people like The Wire's David Simon. I doubt fan reaction has much to do with anything that happens on that show. he and the his writing staff/producers have a vision for the show that is so intricate and planned out, it doesn't seem like fan reaction plays into it.

This is why I love "The Wire" so much - it is a totally exceptional show by many parameters. :)
