Warehouse 13: I love it!
I am still mostly doing RL things: spending the time with the family, eating cakes, shopping and enjoying myself. Tomorrow is the New Year Eve, the biggest holiday of the year in Russia. This year we are not going to Russia for the New Year holidays, we will be going there this summer instead, hopefully in time for the mushroom picking season (I LOVE MUSHROOMS).
I am just dropping by to post a happy ramble about "Warehouse 13". I tried the show last year, but for some reason the first season didn’t call to me immediately and I dropped it. This year my daughter wanted to watch the show together on holidays, and after dragging my feet a little bit I agreed! And how happy I am now that I did, especially after the two biggest let downs of this month: I mean the ending of "Hunger Games" book trilogy (I hopefully will tell you more once the good cheer period is over) and the ending of the season 3 of "Misfits". Now, the ending of the season 3 of Misfits was a Very Bad Ending of The Season, but really, I wasn’t too invested anyways.
But onto happier things! Unexpectedly, "Warehouse 13" is such a delight: gender balanced, funny, feel-good and stereotype-avoiding! Well, there was that one episode about Moscow, but I am going to forgive the show because otherwise this is like the good old times of good assembly cast shows! The abundance of fabulous and various female characters is particular nice. The abundance of characters that aren’t young and gorgeous, but are still interesting and engaging is very welcome too. Plus there are so many non-standard relationships in the show! Even women are having meaningful friendships! :D
This is exactly the kind of thing that makes my holidays perfect (we are already in the middle of the season 3) and makes me forget the disappointments of yesterday (Hunger Games, I mean you). All is not lost. If Sci Fi channel is continuing a show like this year after year – I have hope in the future of TV. :D And it is not as if there is anything particular special about "Warehouse 13" (apart from the gender balance which is indeed a rare thing).. It is .. just good fun!

PS: My daughter says that I am like Irene Frederic, and a little bit like Myka. :D And she sees herself as Claudia.

JSYK, WH13 was pulling awesome ratings. I think it was the Syfy show that pulled in the biggest numbers before Alphas and after Alphas premiered they were both getting great ratings.

I am practically proud of Sci Fi watchers. :D I mean - the show makers always tell us that "beautiful people sell, sex sells, this is why the shows are full of these stick thin very young people etc. etc", but in reality, the watchers like to see people like themselves, I think..
I am going back to Eureka too, I am going to get my daughter to watch it when I finish W13. I think shows like this are "good for her". :D

It is hard for me to decide who is my personal favourite because all the characters are very good.. Hmm. ** thinks ** may be Myka.

IKR! I honestly can't make up my mind. One day I'm all about Pete, the next about Claudia and the next Myka and then I start all over again. *g* But yeah, Pete is love, I swear.

I am the same. But Pete - oh yes. But then, Claudia - the girl I love!

Travel safely and yay for mushrooms! (sauteed in butter and sour cream...yum. )

Oh, it will be months before we go to Russia, but we made a definite decision, so I am getting excited. I also love them in sour cream. And in soup. And my mother makes beautiful mushroom dumpling things.

Mushrooms are one of my favorite things. I wouldn't date pick them myself, but I'm a bit of a wimp. Hee!
Shamelessly butting in...

I love mushrooms too. In russia, my father has always been big on mushrooms, so we received "proper training" on picking (as in: knowing which is good and which is bad and also knowing how to pick the mushrooms so that the actual fungi part is not destroyed).

Wonderful that you got that training for mushrooms! :)

WH13 one of those series that have been constatly enjoyable throughout all 3 seasons. The cast is great, I love the dynamics between all of them. The 'visiting' characters, whether recurring or onetime only have been good as well.
How far in are you now?

Did you say something about Ojakgyo Brothers? I gulped 38 in one go (I am still on holidays). I have such a crush on Joo WOn, it is insane!

Re. 'Ojakgyo Brothers'.... I might have mentioned it somewhere, I like it. I've been watching it in chunks whenever I've amassed enough subbed epis. I guess I'm as far in as you now. Joo Won.... I can't say I've got a crush on him exactly (that'd be Suh Joon Young in 'Just You' right now ;P) but he is a qutie and I'm looking forward to more of him in dramas. His next one (Mask? premiers in May... I think) sounds like tons of fun. In an angsty kind of way, LOL!
I've been watching bit of this and bit of that, rotating my currently airing dramas with some older stuff (Chosun Police 3 was love, I need to do a piece on it) and western shows thrown in (Body of Proof is back from hiatus \o/).

Body of proof didn't strike a chord with me at the beginning of the season 1 but I might get to it sometime too, if it is good..

BoP didn't grab me right of the bat either but it's one of those shows that needed a few episodes to find it's groove. S2 has been love. I really like the characters and their interaction. Dana Delaney is great as someone who's not a paragon of virtue but always human. I also like the understated humour.
