As for the movie, I am very skeptical. I just don't know how the brutality of the books will be able to come through in the movies, I feel like it could very easily get the "hollywood" treatment, where the political and human rights parts are brushed over by the need for action and explosions.
IA. I think I will wait to see the Cato scene to be relieved about this. If they don't sweeten that one, then I will believe that they can hold it for the second and mostly for the third one.
