But if Ned was willing to take the throne and cooperate with (or rather depend on) Littlefinger, I think he'd benefit more from that.
I don't know, I thought this would have been another disastrous move for Ned. Renly (and support of Tyrells) was actually the most sensible and most "noble" option. ** sigh **
