Friday pictures: Hyun Bin: Still rocking the bad boy look

Hyun Bin! My big and consistent love! A man with dimples and good acting skills! I am watching "Worlds Within" (one of most underrated dramas of all times) . He is as good as ever in this drama, wearing checkered shirts and tight trousers. But as much as I love his character in "Worlds Within", I must say that his best look is that of scruffy bad boy. I have found some of excellent examples of this look, from the times of "Friend our legend". He even had a very short haircut during these times, my personal weakness:

I want a shirt like this.

And I want a shirt like this too, preferably with Hyun Bin in it.

Oh, I love those pictures! (You have to watch Friend! It's a rare drama that's genuinely good).

I am afraid of the blob of censure , but I might watch "Friend" after WW, I am pretty tied up with quite few good things at the moment. Doesn't "Friend.. " have a bad endin? I have grown to dislike bad endings.

Friend starts at the end and then goes backwards so yes, it has a bad ending. It didn't bother me because it made perfect sense - they are gangsters.

The blob isn't too bad actually. (There are blobless dvds out, but no eng subs with them). I think it's HB's best acting job so far and also he looks incredible in it:

Yes, I haven't even seen any of Friend, but I was sure the ending is bad. DO NOT TEMPT ME. Just when I got so quite addicted to WW?

But seriously - CIGARETTES. RINGS. HYUN BIN!

Finish WW first. It's my favorite HB drama :)

No, this is near the end once he and SHK get back together after he put her through hell. (You may have issues with her but she definitely did not deserve what happened which was BRUTAL, though I don't blame him for acting the way he did either *trying to be vague here so as not to spoil too much* The reconciliation scene is my favorite shippy scene ever though.)

He stops pining for old gf fairly quickly actually.

Was he pushing her away when his eyes got bad? I love "pushing her away for her own good" stuff. Oh, I am going to watch another ep of Ww right now.

Sort of. Basically, he is a very lovely person but he is insecure and he gets more and more uncertain when he finds out just how upperclass she really is (because he's from this farming bumpkin type family) and her mother hates him and he gets jealous too and you can see he's thinking she will dump him (because I don't think he truly can believe she loves him and wants him) and frustration over various things (most of them not directly involving her) mounts and he basically breaks up with her as a defensive measure. So it starts out not being about his vision but if it wasn't for that, it's pretty clear it was a couple fight type thing and they'd get back together double-quick. But once he finds out about his eyes, basically there is no way he'll take her back (and the poor guy is having a total meltdown in general) and I feel horrible for him but also for her - it's a huge growth sign for her though because earlier he commented her big flaw is that she is 'easy' (not in a sexual way, in an emotional one - nothing matters much, she moves easily on) but she just won't let him go despite him pushing and pushing her away. There is this one scene where she is just banging on his door and refusing to leave and he's sort of sobbing silently inside which is so...makes my heart hurt. She even gets sick from it all.

OK, I should stop babbling.

I love when he goes back to her not because his prognosis has improved (it hasn't) but because he simply cannot hold himself back anymore.

OK, I need a rewatch NOW.

This sounds so deliciously and so my thing. I don't know why the drama didn't click with me first time round - may be I was itred and couldn't muster enough strength to watch through all the introductory bits carefully? because everything moves so fast and there are so many new characters in the first 2 eps?

I think WW's first ep can be offputting - it's so chaotic and throws you in the middle of all these characters and relationships none of which you know. I love it on rewatch but as a start I think it's a rocky one.

One of the things I love about WW is that the relationships feel real - I can imagine real people in them (e.g. much as I am enjoying Stairway to Heaven, no way any real person would be like that).

I loved their break-up, dramatically. Because (a) it proves how much she loves him and (b) it was so real that it wasn't because just of some pure noble 'my infirmity shall not sully her' motive but a lot of things mixed into that.

Yes, I also feel this. I like slice-of-life dramas like this, you feel that you are almost in a real world. As much as I enjoy your posts about StH - there is no way I am watching this. I remember "Winter Sonata" made me literally ill (I caught a cold but I am sure it wasn't just a coincidence), and this considering I knew it ends well. You are so brave watching these things.

I love "I must stay away" trope when it is done well. LOVE IT.

I think I am going to be taking a break from StH actually. it's like this emotional hothouse. I can't have too much at once, it overwhelms me.

Also, my fave angsty scene in WW is here - starts at 3:25. I love it so much! It's the one I mentioned upthread.

I am on the episode 6 now, but this scene - I have been watching and rewatching it countless times already. :D
