I am so tempted to check "Dong Yi"! After "Chuno" and "Jejoongwon" I have found big burning love for period dramas and I crave another period drama I can start obsessing over. But. "Dong Yi" is a rare beast, a drama where from the episode 0 I prefer the secondary male character to the lead male character. To digress, the majority of Korean dramas are made by one simple standard: they always have one lead couple (explicitly specified at the beginning, in the titles) and two secondary characters (usually one male, one female) who form love triangles with the main couple but who never "win the prize". To be fair, the leads and the secondaries are usually chosen very carefully and in over 100 of Korean dramas I have checked up to date, in 95% of cases the secondaries never outshine the leads. But sometimes, rarely, they do. In this case, there is a big problem: would you want to watch a drama where you know that your favourite actor doesn't win the girl's affections?
This is my problem with "Dong Yi". Just look at Bae Soon Bin, the Kind Ninja:

( And look at the lead guy, the Korean Beard King )
Who would you want Dong Yi to love????????????????
( Some more examples of dramas where I wanted the secondaries to be the leads )
These are, of course, my own examples. Everyone's tastes vary! Have you watched any dramas where you wanted the secondary guy to be the lead and get the girl??
