First of all - it is the birthday of
the_grynne!! Happy birthday! May it bring to you many fannish and other delights! In the UK we celebrate it by the DVD release of "The Wire season 4" and I am so ordering it. :D
This week is the end of Sasha's pre-holiday tests at school. She done very very well on reading and comprehension but I don't know the results of the rest of the tests yet (and I think Math and Writing are more difficult for her) . In a meanwhile we are doing some of revisions.
We promised her a tortoise if she does well at the end of the year tests in May. She is going to call him Alfie. And I found a great web-site with the books we need for revision. Well, it is good that she hasn't asked for a snake, I think. Still, imagine a tortoise living in Sasha's room on the attic floor?
Work is busy , I am working overtime on the Epic Project. Wish me luck. :D
Films watched recently, I am not sure if I'll have time for proper posts:
No country for old men Good, very good. Quirky. How come Daddy Winchester (Javier Bardem) is such a good actor and I didn't know it? But for me the film wasn't as good as "Oh, Brother" or "Fargo". May be because I found the accent hard to decipher. For example, the ending was lost on me. What happened at the end? Nothing? When this is out on DVD I'll try to re-watch with subtitles. I wonder, if
endlessdeep watched it already.
Lust, Caution Loved it. But what is this big deal I have heard about the pornographic nature of the film and it's indecency? I don't understand. It is in no way more explicit than "Brokeback Mountain".
Tony Leung was particular excellent, so different from his usual roles. Forget a loveable woobie; meet a scary and reserved semi-monster. ( Spoilery part )
Replacement Killers Chow Yun Fat with a gun plus Mira Sorvino with a gun? I say it is a totally new category of art. I must re-watch, many times.
TV shows:
New Amsterdam I like it but I can't get over a feeling that I am watching an alternative-reality "Moonlight".
Delightful Girl Cheon-Hyang The heroine is most awesome! And Jae Hee ("Three Iron") is wearing strange Korean fashions!! And I happened to like the third-wheel guy too! The result - just the thing to carry me through the over-work times.
