The first half of the first season of "Buffy"

I have finished a half of the first season of "Buffy the Vampire slayer". So far so good. I am afraid to miss a word as every word and every phrase seem to be beyond awesome. So much fun and wit were the last seen in 19th-century books. :D Oh, I think I like "Buffy.." to bits but I have few questions:

1. Buffy is incredibly pretty and perky.. but it seems that she is at least 3 dress sizes and 4 chest sizes larger in this first season then in the season 6. And here comes my pet rant ..I think Buffy looks gorgeous just like this – tiny but curvy and kick-ass, very much like Scully in the first season of X-files. Why oh why (again) all TV heroines have to undergo slimming? This happened to Scully in X-files, this happened to Rose in "Doctor Who" too..?
