Korean film "Duelist" is directed by Myung-se Lee and tells a story about mysterious assassin, "Sad eyes" (Kang Dong Won), his role in the attempt to overthrow the existing government and his relationship with female detective Namsoon (Ha Ji Woon).

For me this is a difficult film to review because I have very mixed feelings after watching it. On one hand, this film is too long and has a plot that is convoluted, uneasy to follow, floppy and weak. On the other hand - it is very unusual and vivid visually. The strongest scenes are probably the scenes of "duels" where some new techniques were applied such as an interesting use of film speed changing and chopping/shifting of the frames. And one thing that is definitely outstanding in "Duelist" for me is the chemistry between the two main characters, Namsoon and Sad Eyes. It is like a music, and is done by using one of the most dreamy soundtracks.
( I hid some of my thoughts behind the cut as they contain spoilers )
( Couple of the pictures )
