The arrangement with your parents living in the same building sounds very convenient!!!
And since my hometown is located in a valley, using a real bike unfortunately isn't easy since you'd constantly be sweaty. :)
It is interesting that you think this. One of the things I noticed on a bike that when riding on it you feel really quite chilly, even in a good weather. But of course, I hate the helmets. If I was allowed I would never use it.
