Worlds within+ Hyun Bin!!!!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on my friends list who celebrates this holiday! From my heart I must say how thankful I am for all of you!!! ** big hugs **

I had a bit of a cold yesterday so I stayed at home and had a chance to finally start the new drama with Hyun Bin, Worlds Within . I have watched 4 episodes and my impression is very underwhelmed . This is such a pity, I adore both main leads but the drama is not my thing at all. "Worlds Within" is a Korean drama trying to be a Western show, with partner swapping and office love stories and fast dialogues, but the problem is that i am not in Korean dramas for this!! I am in for forbidden eternal love! Also "Worlds Within" doesn't do Western show particular well (as "My Sweet city" did), the story so far is not catching. What a pity!!!!!

Still, I was reminded that Hyin Bin is the prettiest man in Korea and I might just have to finish watching "Worlds Within" so that I can just watch how gorgeous he is.

Friday pictures of Hyun Bin, the prettiest man in Korea

Who is pretty even when he palys a mental patient

But who cant smile for the camera to save his life

Also some fashions I disapprove of

PS: "The Painter of the wind" is going to be the death of me.

Yeah, I've read that people as awhole are not very impressed with Worlds Within. Most say it's boring. I've not watched any episodes so I can't really tell but it may not be for me either.

Oh yeah, the boy is good to look at all right. ;P

When a drama has the word 'wind' in it's name, it's a killer? *g* I'm loving KotW so much, it's fast becoming one of my favourites. Unless they manage to botch it up at the end.

Oh my gosh! Gorgeous pictures! Thanks so much for posting them :D Hyun Bin is my favorite korean actor, and he's indeed the prettiest. *loffs him*

I also started watching Worlds Whithin, but it hasn't interested me much, though I might watch it just for Hyun Bin. And Painter of the Wind!! This drama is awesome, it's my current obsession.. I just love the paitings, and the relationship between the main characters... and even the relationship of the main character with the courtesan is interesting. <33 Love it.

I think boring may be the right word! And they totally don't give Hyun Bin any ansgt! He does angst the best (that and pouting).

I love him in "Winter Queen" and "Kim Sam Soon", both are in my favourites list.

I need to catch up on KotW this weekend, it is such an excellent drama but I got too sidetracked into watching "The Painter of the Wind" (I am following it on viikii!).

Is he really considered the prettiest man in Korea? Cause he's not that pretty to me. Nice hair, but that's about it... :/

"Worlds Within" is the biggest disappointment of the season for me! Also Hyun Bin looks like he lost some weight for this drama and I don't particular like his haircut (now - this is serious, right? :D)

"The Painter of the Wind" is fabulous, it is a ground-breaking drama. I want to find other dramas of this director. The stories of the paintings are so interesting - do the paintings look "real" for your eye of a painter yourself?

I must say how thankful I am for all of you!!! ** big hugs ** I'm very thankful for you as well! *BIG HUGS BACK* :)

I still haven't checked out Worlds Within since i haven't read anything good about it at all. XD It really is a shame since it is such a lovely cast. :(

EEEE! Such a beautiful picspam! *oogles*

Painter is lovely <3 I'm enjoying it very much and i'm trying to brace myself for the ending. XD

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
** more hugs ** :D

What episode are you on with "The PAinter"? I am getting really anxious - I have seen 17 eps (well, 18 if to count not translated eps) and I can't guess the ending AT ALL. Also you must tell me who are you shipping YB with. :D

[identity profile] allbloomedout.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
*SQUISHES* :P

I think i'm on 15. How are you on 17 already?! Is there another place to watch it with subs? I can't guess the ending other than it would be sad since the start of the episode 1 hinted at it. :P I'm shipping YB with KHD. :) I can't help it but it's just all so forbidden love which i love to eat up. XD How about you?

[identity profile] timescout.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, UTW is the angst king of Korea for me. XD He does not pout though.... so you got me there. LOL!

I've got to get my act together and finally start watching Panter. I've been sidetracked with this and that too often, so it's time I got on with it. :)

[identity profile] lage-nom-ai.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hope you feel better soon! Perhaps more kdrama will kick your cold. :D

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
You can watch it streaming on viikii: http://www.viikii.net/

But the subs for the ep 17 are ready too: http://bimbibap.com/2008/11/painter-of-the-wind-english-subtitles/

I also ship YB with KHD. I like Park Shin Yang to bits and I really like the way they portrayed teacher/pupil relationship. Gosh,I wish I had a teacher like that, sacrificing himself for me all the time. But I like the relationship with the courtesan too. I am not spoiling it for you but ep 18 got me really really worried.

Thank you!!! My cold is kind of getting better - I hope you are having a nice Thansgiving!!!!

UTW is awesome. I must make a picspam of his and also I has been thinking about "MAwang" rewatch for ages. Also may be "Resurrection" (I remember you liking it).

I hope you'll like "The Painter"

[identity profile] allbloomedout.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you :) I forgot to check the actual subber site, i've been waiting for the update on jdramas. :P *downloads* Thank you!

I really like their relationship as well. Except the past episodes.. the way he looks at her *dies* such angst! I would be lovely to have a teacher like him. I like they relationship with the courtesan as well. They have amazing chemistry. Sigh, i just past the episodes with her "brother" that was so heartbreaking! :( Oh no, i'm scared to know what happens..

[identity profile] timescout.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
Funny but I've been thinking about rewatching Mawang as well! I've been listening to the OST a lot recently. I tend to do that periodically.

'Resurrection' is wonderful and it's totally an UTW showcase. So yes, you should watch it! ;) Actually, I should watch it again myself, I've got the director's cut which I have not managed to watch yet. Give me a holler when/if you do.

I'm pretty sure I will like Painter. It's got that feel.

Oh, this is for you (http://www.dramabeans.com/2008/11/park-shi-hoo-strips-for-family-honor/) - I seem to recall you liked Park Shi Hoo XD

[identity profile] amandioka.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the paitings are good illustrations of the life back then and what makes them alive is the ammount of detail (from RL) in it; however what struck me the most is how difficult it really was to paint in that time! Most of the time they painted directly with ink, without sketching first, and that's very very difficult! The lines are very clear, which shows the painter needs a doctor-like steady hand... Just remembering the king's portraid makes me tired, no wonder both of the artists almost fainted.

[identity profile] ambergold.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I was really excited for Worlds Within, watched the first episode, wasn't hooked but the fact that I wasn't hooked didn't really register so I went back later...and realized that WW is one of the most boring, soulless, dry things I"ve ever seen. It's such a waste of the talent and production :(

[identity profile] ambergold.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, Hyum Bin is gorgeous but for some reason doesn't really do it for me. I mean, I admire him in the way we admire all classic, perfect proportions :) but it's in a kind of distant way - he doesn't really do the heart-squeeze-throb thing other actors do. Except maybe when he's a bad boy but he so seldom is - always seems to get cast as the half-hearted-bad-but really good boy(aka Snow Queen).

[identity profile] ambergold.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
sorry. *Hyun* Bin

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny but I've been thinking about rewatching Mawang as well! I've been listening to the OST a lot recently. I tend to do that periodically.

The thing is, I haven't watched it "properly". I watched it at the very beginning, but it had a dry-sub spell around episode 14-16. Because I was impatient I watched the rest of the eps without subs , relying on soompi summaries, but of course this is not the same. I need to watch it properly from the beginning.

Decided, I am watching "Resurection" this week. :D I think you said the ending is not so good, but who cares!

Oh, this is for you - I seem to recall you liked Park Shi Hoo XD

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am so watching this - I haven't seen it anywhere yet, but I hope it will appear.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
how difficult it really was to paint in that time! Most of the time they painted directly with ink, without sketching first, and that's very very difficult!

This is also what I thought - how on earth did they manage to produce all these incredibly detailed paintings without sketching..

The portraits were made with the use of sketching, it seemed. I liked the way they used translucent paper for sketching. The details on the kings portraits were AMAZING. I was so sad that it was destroyed!

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I really like their relationship as well. Except the past episodes.. the way he looks at her *dies* such angst!

The forbidden side of their love story is killing me. KHD was ready to accept that he likes the "boy" and then the revelation the she is a daughter of his friend comes along and now he is all noble and views her as a daughter of sorts and I am all full of angst!!!

I like the courtesan, she is so beautiful and again - FORBIDDEN LOVE!!!!

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I am inclined to agree. This is probably the weakest drama I have seen so far. ** sigh ** I find some of the old dramas rather poor but the dramas made from around 2004 are much more dynamic.

Have you seen "My name is Kim Sam Soon" (one of my most loved favourites)? He is on the bad boy side there. I was surprised to see him so quiet and pondering in "Winter sonata". I still loved it (and it shows that he can act well) but my favourite role of his is in "Kim Sam Soon".
