True Blood: the trashiest show I have seen so far. Bad fashions.
Forget all korean dramas , forget forbidden stepsibling love, forget angsty crying in snow wildernesses. Because now we have "True Blood"!!! And it is all about vampires and their human rights!! And of course, the herouine has to stand for the rights of vampires. I want to stand for the rights of vampires too, especially for the rights of Eric. And in order to do so Sookie needs to stroll around the woods dressed as below.
Poor Anne Paquin has completely lost her waist and her torso looks far too short:

The question: Are there any mosquitoes in the woods (looks like this type of woods)??? If anyone is from the Southern states of USA - do you get much of mosquitoes there?
This was meant to be a cute Southern dress, I think. And it could have been one, only if the waistline (and the hem line) was a bit lower. As it stands, looks like Poor Sookie has been wearing this dress since the age of 13. She has grown a bit since then. Also - why is she standing in this strange way? Surely not because she has to show off her bosoms?

I am still worried about mosquitoes. Evening + Woody places + Scantily dressed girls = Mosquitoes??
PS: I am utterly mesmerized.

And I was going to say she must have stolen that dress from her niece or something :P

May be. :D Poor niece.

I still don't like the show at all, it is not my style of Southern Gothic but it is intentionally trashy, so I understand watching it for that reason!

This makes sense. :D But what do they do about mosquitoes? Like we get lots of them where I was born, but usually if people go for a walk in the woods they dress more .. sensibly. Or you can be eaten alive.
I can't stop watching, and I haven't even seen Eric yet. But I wish the show stopped nagging about the human rights of vampires. This doesn't go with the delicious trashiness.

Hahaha! Well, mosquitoes are a small price to pay! I'm lol-ing at the trash clothes though. I think I'm frightened to watch this show in case I get suckered in.

I didn't really enjoy the one book in the series very much, but I am strangely fascinated by the images of Sookie's miniature clothes. Surely if you were dating a vampire it would be an excellent idea to try and cover up lots of flesh so as not to tempt them too much?

Hee! Not if you waaaaaaaant to be bitten. As much as a fan of "vampire romance" I am I always find the bit about girls desire to be bitten strange.

hee! This is the good description. I think the show is very ucky to have Anna Paquin, she is too pretty for words.

I haven't read the books - just ordered them and am eagerly awaiting their arrival.
Maybe mosquitos avoid telepaths? Or vampires, so she won't be bothered around Bill. Otherwise, let's just say she has tons of Off.

hee! This is a good suggestion. May be she can project a telepathic field or something. :D

I think Alan Ball's intention is to make the show a lot trashy and very cliche.
That being said, some people in the south do dress like that. It would be odd if Sookie was wearing nice designer clothes. Would be totally out of place for Sookie since she is a small town girl. Although I have to say the dress in the first picture bothered me too because it makes her look like she has no waist or hips.
The show IS mesmerizing though isn't it? Hee. I am totally in love with Bill. They couldn't have picked a better actor to play him.

I love Bill's manners.

Me too! His "can I call upon you" totally reminded me when I just moved to the UK. One of our well-mannered friends said this to me. I thought she was going to ring me. ** laughs **

Well yes, she normally would keep getting bitten in the evening, but I can tell you for cure that unless she's... ahem... having a monthly... the mosquitos may jsut not be attracted to the scent of her blood.
Also.
Walking with vampire.

And hee - I think she might have a deterrent telepathic field or something.. :D

I'm loving this show, btw.

Actually, I thought so too. Which makes it even stranger that Sookie wonders around in the woods in such a dress.
(I am enjoying this too. :D)
