Update: Oh where have my fannisn life gone???

We have survived the launch of the Project. It all went very very smooth. Too smooth. :D I feel relieved but at the same time .. strange.

My daughter has some kind of rash all over her face today. I get so irrationally worried about these things and not happy with doctors who say to me "Oh, this is normal". How come this is normal?

I HAVE DONE A SESSION OF SCUBA-DIVING. I loved it! I want to join our scuba-diving club now.

I haven't watched anything that requires thinking since "Generation Kill", my brain was too busy for anything. But:

- Sara Connor Chronicles. OH MY POOR HEART! The first episode of the season 2 fulfilled the potential of the season 1 so well! Voiceovers seem to have gone away. I am a fan for life of Cameron/John, Sarah/Derek and Agent Ellison (all by himself). I need to make some Agent Ellison icons.

- Fringe. The first episode was a bit hyper-active for me. The main female character looks like a twin of Meredith from "Grey's Anathomy". Who, in her own case, is a Michelle Pfeiffer's look-a-like. All this look-a-likedness is confusing. But I liked the mad professor and his son and the X-files references are always appreciated. I definitely intend to watch more.

-Carnivale: Picked up a DVD set of this I-have-never-heard-of HBO show in DVD rentals. I wonder why no-one has mentioned it before - so far it is exceptionally good (in a weird way) and gorgeously filmed..

I've always wished to scuba dive but don't have the courage. So you go! :)

And congratulations on the project. Hope your daughter is better soon.

Thank you!!!! I also wanted to do scuba-diving for a long time. I am mad about water, swimming and all such things. It is a very strage feeling, though. For the first few minutes I felt as if I am running out of air, which is an absolutely psychological thing. You get over it after 2 or 5 minutes.

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds amazing. And mesmerizing.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It is!! It feels at the end as if you are floating in space or something.

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Which sounds fabulous. I'd like to float in space, I just don't want to be shot into space. ;)

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to be shot into space (in a special protective rocket, with fuel and food :D)

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Food and fuel is a good point. ;)

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-10-10 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing happens without fuel!

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2008-10-10 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Well...now thatbrings me back to my favorite fantasy about teleportation. Or a Tardis.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-10-13 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I completely share your favourite fantasy. :D

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2008-10-13 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee!

[identity profile] dianora77.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I watched Carnivale some 2 years ago and have definitely mentioned it in my journal, only that was before we met. :) The first season was better than the second. As usual HBO decided to abruptly end the series because the production was too expensive.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! I am on the episode 4 and still can't quite figure out where it all is going, but HOW BEAUTIFULLY FILMED IS it!!! I can't quite decide who is the bad and who is the good guy yet. :D

Abrupt endings are such a pain!

[identity profile] dianora77.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there was closure, definitely, but it all felt a bit rushed. I loved the opening credits with tarot cards... That was really a gorgeous sequence.

Oh, this is so intricately and beautifully done! And the music! Awesome!

EEE! Wasn't SCC wonderful? And that song, OMG! I adore it. PLEEEASE make SCC icons, Alexandra! Yours are so lovely.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!!! :D SCC is my shippy heaven. I need to ship Agent Ellison with someone. :D The show is very very good on song choices!! I just wished they could show it twice a week or something.

I am so obsessed now with Sara Conner Chronicles, so I have to comment and say Yay! Cameron is my favorite terminator ever because she looks so small.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I lovely girl is able to beat up all THE EVIL terminators? I so love this!

Carnivale is amazing but, alas, like Rome it ended too soon. But if you've never watched it, I would definitely recommend it. Just don't let the kiddies watch it because, like Rome, it's adult only.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my gosh, I just reached the scary parts (with the minig town) ** shudderes **

[identity profile] bzoppa.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I never finished Carnivale because it made me a little crazy to watch. I have intense dislike for Nick Stahl, I don't think he's a good actor. I went into it with an open mind, ready for him to wow me, but he never did.

I also thought it was u n b e l i e v a b l y slow. I watched it with a buddy of mine in Chicago over IM and video players. Later in the season we thought a character showed up, and I said, "Wait, was that x?" His response: "Couldn't be, because that means something actually happened on this show."

That being said, I loved the production (I agree it's gorgeous, even the dirt is gorgeous) and I f'ing loved the supporting characters/actors. If it hadn't been Stahl I probably would've made it completely through, but when I heard it got canceled I didn't bother to watch the last few eps.

The limping guy is awesome, the younger stripper girl is awesome, and Clancy Brown (Justin Crowe) could read me the telephone book and I'd still swoon. Unfortunately, they weren't enough to overcome my confusion over Clea DuVall (whom I previously liked but this show started my disillusionment with her) and ambivalence towards one of the two protagonists.

John Hannah's got a fantastic two-ep role, too.

I am so-so about Stahl and his character too. Not attractive enough. :D But I just like the whole mystical/fairytale/religion mix.

Brother Justin is AWESOME.

[identity profile] bzoppa.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally ganked Mr. Quick's copy of Highlander to see a 27-year-old Clancy Brown play the villain. I had Clancy Brown on the brain for days after this post.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-10-10 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
EEEE! I finished the first season. It is a strange show - now we know that Stahl is a "good guy" and Brown is a "bad guy" but Brown is a much much stronger and more attractive character! All that bottle-up torture-ness!

Yay! Someone posting about Fringe. Apparently it is coming to Australian TV, and I couldn't figure out from the promos they were running if it was worth a look or not. With your seal of approval, I think I shall.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
You are watching "Generation Kill" !!! EEEEEE!

Take me right, I didn't really like "Fringe" that much, but I definitely will be watching it for the crazy professor's and his son's sake. I wish the lead lady could be more interesting. ** SIGH **

Well, we did not know each other back when Carnivale was airing. :) Or I would have mentioned it! It is frustrating, fascinating, and as you mentioned, visually gorgeous. I hope you enjoy it!

I didn't like Fringe...it just felt tired, nothing new or special. I WISH I liked it, I can't find much "real" TV to like these days.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I am enjoying "Carnivale" greatly - I just got to the scary mining town named Babylon part. ** brrrrrr ** SCARY!!! (in a good way :D)

[identity profile] allbloomedout.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry for being late! I'm glad the project went very well! YAY!

I would be worried too! Has the rash went away? I hope she will get better soon :)

YAY for scuba diving! I've always wanted to try it. I've only tried a bit of snorkeling in high school.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-10-10 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
EEEE! Thank you so much, dear! The rash gone away but Sasha seems to have this cold that lasts and lasts. ** meep **

[identity profile] allbloomedout.livejournal.com 2008-10-26 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry for being so late! Oh no, lingering colds are the worst. I hope she will recover soon!

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2008-10-30 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!! It might be a bit of an allergy.
