YEP, in a very fast manner, skipping a lot of things I didn't like (and I didn't like many things about these books). But as it happens sometimes, i thought the best books start after the 4th one. I got hooked on the character of Eric-the-Vampire-Sheriff (see the guy above) so I mostly was reading scenes involving him. I don't think you have met him - I think he appears somewhere in the middle of the first book.
