"Battlestar Galactica" icons

I con’t stop making “Battlestar Galactica” icons! Sometimes (quite often ;) it feels like Starbuck and Apollo are real people..

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] gender, [livejournal.com profile] natangel, [livejournal.com profile] noctuidae for gradients/textures

These are really nice. I love the coloring and they are crisp and clear, which I personally like. I only have one suggestion. Try some different cropping. Instead of centering your subject, put him/her to one side of the icon. Your second Dee icon where she is washing her face is a good example. She is touching three sides of the icon leaving the bottom part untouched.

Cropping is one of the hardest things to do in icon making besides the creative use of text. I have a really hard time with cropping. Adn text I agonize over. Sometimes I just leave it out because I get so frustrated. :)

Took #3 and #17.

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] realtanala. If you crop without centering the subject, it makes the picutre more interesting. Speaking as an art student, I know this is true. Another tip (even though your icons weren't this style): if you ever frame a picture, keep the frame a little bigger on bottom. It balances out the picture.

Anyway, as you can see, I really liked the icons ('cause I took two!). Good job on the quotes. I've been meaning to make some quote icons myself... but I'm lazy.
