BSG Unfinished business

I am back to watching "Battlestar Galactica". I have also watched Korean film "The Host" today and it was so good and absolutely not "just horror", but rather a dark comedy and scarily truthful investigation of society. But more about this later, BSG!! I haven't watched it for about 4 weeks and absolutely despaired that things will ever be good. But amazingly, the creators pulled the rabbit out of the hat and explained it all (at least for me)

For me, this episode made the perfect sense and explained all the things which were niggling me. I have never believed that Kara was truly in love with Anders, and I could not understand where all her feelings for Lee gone in one minute. But they were always there!! "Kara Thrace loves Lee Adama" and this is all that matters for me. The rest of her behavior is just down to her usual problems - "Everyone I love will die a horrible death". Her psychological problems lie so deep, and the mind-games that Leoben played made them much worse.

And though admittedly the fact that she just run away from her feelings for Apollo after they slept together in a field and into the arms of Anders doesn't make her "a good person", it doesn't mean also that she wanted to hurt Lee intentionally. What had happened is that she finally gave in to her feelings for him because she was drunk and because for a minute she forgotten her scary thoughts "everyone I love must die", And them - BAM! The moment she said "Kara Thrace loves Lee Adama" is the moment when everything went wrong. She admitted it, loudly, for herself and for Lee. And even her face changed, like they used to say in the olden days, "her countenance fell", because what is left then - Lee is going to die due to the fact that she is a curse for everyone she loves??

And of course she run away with probably one thought in her mind "Even though Lee will hate me, he will be better off elsewhere". And yes, poor Anders, but at the same time - is he some kind of a calf to be dragged into the hasty "let's do it this minute" marriage? The way he spoke about the marriage to Lee didn't indicate any deep feelings for me; and what a horribly sad moment it was for Lee!! To discover that his love got herself quickly married an hour after they slept together.

I guess, in this episode I just saw the full extent of Starbuck's psychological condition and I feel very sad for her now, there doesn't seem to be a way towards the happiness for her at all. I thought Lee was very dignified , especially during the scene when he discovered that Kara got herself married in an hour. He was so broken, but he had strength to say "Congratulations" to Anders. And I really loved that he was so open and happy about his feelings. If she just let him. And I loved even more the fact that they just could not stay away from each other for long, even after all the heartbreak, the way they were hugging each other after the boxing was OMPH so intense. "I missed you" Kara said first, and Lee answered "I missed you too", and again "I missed you too". This all makes me cry!!

PS: I find the "field" detail to be very romantic. :D
