I hope you are correct - he went after the Kendall after the split-up with Veronica, until that it was just passing attraction. It is just so much going on in the episode 1 concerning their complicated relationship that I need to re-watch to get my head round it. I am going to do it today!! YAY!
And there are other reasons too (IMO) but that would get into spoilery territory.
