I think you are right that something magical happened when Mick drank Beth's blood. I am reading these vampire novels by Charlaine Harris and the main female character in the book, who is human, has to drink some vampire blood from a vampire and now he can feel her emotions. Not to give too much away about the book. So yeah, I think Mick might have something similar going on with Beth.
Mick's feelings for Morgaline are so different from what he feels for Beth. I don't even know if there is any love there, just fascination. Morgaline is a femme fatal, that's all there is to it. Why men don't see through these women I don't know. I suppose men like them for the same reasons women like bad boys. :) *shrug*
