Beginners guide to Mick St. John's facial expressions

Wasn't episode 7 so very good? As in quite un-guilty way? I really liked Coraline and the way Mick shed his good-guy composure around her. Mick going to the dark side –please bring more of it! And Josef is gathering more depth which is awesome too..

Something I wanted to do for quite a while – don't you think Alex O'Loughlin has one of the best ranges of facial expressions in the history of EVER? And they all deserve to be remembered?

My favourite facial expression of Mick's so far: Cute un-haunted look of pre-vampire days

6. Rather annoyed. He wishes he killed you the first time round.



7. Brooding. About not killing you the first time round.



8. Gobsmacked. The world just has started turning the other way, can't you feel it?




9. Wistful and in love. "She only comes to seduce me when she is under the influence of drugs. NOT FAIR!!!"



10. Stoically heroic. "I am gonna save the world. TOMORROW!"



11. Staked.



12. So very tempted, in a gentleman-like manner.



13. So very impressed by the way you look. "Come HITHER!"



14. Dying (and in love). Or dying from love. Or something like that



15. Longing and lonesome tonight.

What a great idea - MUST do this next week! I like him the most when he is trying to be so UNCONCERNED with Mick's escapades but in really he so clearly is.. They are really good friends, it seems!

HEE! I am so glad you do! The show is reaching the point where I can safely rec it. It is not anything that will ever fare well with critics but it is so enjoyable..The show's appeal is in the characters, really. Th creators were very lucky with Jason Dohring's addition to Alex O'Loughlin's charms (he has lovely soft voice :D)..

He does have an incredibly mobile, expressive face, doesn't he? I think that's why he gets more attractive every week. Always something new. I think my fav's #29, the open happy smile. But it's a tough call.

He is a very good actor, isn't he? I really loved that moment too - Mick opened up and left brooding for a minute when he was reminiscing about his human life. He was just so happy in that moment, without his usual holding back..

Yes, yes. I marvel about this constantly and it is at lest 60% of the reason I love him. Only comic actors even come close to his range of expressions and even then a lot of them have several that they resort to repeatedly. I think this is all down to his very naturalistic performance. It doesn't feel like he is acting at all when you watch him (except sometimes, you can see the expression develop very slowly and that occasionally feels a bit contrived... like the smug smile when he said Beth was jealous.)

And yes, I could talk about this all day and I haven't even actually looked at the pics yet! *g*

Hot Damn! #27 just kills me. That look really just gets me. And 29! Oh, hooray for 29! I think that is my favorite. *sigh* The man really has the most wonderful smiles.

Mick is my "first love" on this show - I fell in love instantly, at the beginning of the pilot when he softly said "You tell me.." to Beth's question if she knows him.. But I like Josef very much too.
