I finished these mini-series a couple of weeks ago. At the end I feel in love with it, quite irrationally, head over the heels. The icons are free to share, please let me know if you would like any text added.

I think you've handled the use of yellow very well. The icons all have this glowing, golden feel which suits them - so great work! I really like # 2 and # 8, and Alia in #4 is wonderful. (I think if I could change anything about Dune it would be for Alia not to be possessed by the Baron, and to spend herlife with Duncan.)
Also the filter work on #10 is very good. It looks like an old, sepia coloured photograph - very haunting. :)

Thank you so so much! I am really quite unsure about using " visible" textures yet. :D

** Nods ** "Dune" is not really a happy–ending style book, is it? I was quite keen on the first Leto (Paul's father) too and I was really sad when he died.

OMFG. I'm so taking #2, 5, 6, 8 and 12 ... feel like taking all of them, actually, they really, really rock my socks! Excellent job.

This mini-series is one of my favourites, considering that the Dune book series occupies a really special place in my heart (read it about 10 times, perhaps, all 7 books, ha), and Leto, Ghanima and Alia are among my most beloved characters.

Thank you so much!

It is such a very good adaptation, isn't it? It has it's flaws but it's beauty is incredible.. I stopped reading by "God Emperor of Dune" but the first few books are really excellent, so original and like nothing else out there. May be one day I'll read the rest of the books..

I agree that the first three books are the best, although I've got a slight preference for COD, perhaps just because Leto II & Ghanima are in that one, lol. Well, they're in the others as well, Leto at least, but not like that, not like that at all. My other favourite characters include Alia (had a major "crush" on this character, also am a huge fan of Alia/Duncan), Chani, the Fremens, generally speaking, and sometimes Paul.

I hope you'll read the other books as well. They might not be that good, but they're still Dune ;)

And you're welcome. You well deserve all the praise!
(took the liberty to friend you, btw)

Leto and Ghanima are my favourites too (and this was even before James McAvoy :D). I know what you meant about "God and Emperor" - I stopped reading there because this it was a little too strange.. Like you I always adored Alia and her possession is one of my all-time "worst" endings and Alia Duncan are wonderful! I was always Paul/Irulan shipper and was very disappointed that she never had a happy love.

You are making me want to re-read "Children of Dune"

I have added you too!

First of all, thank you so much for adding me back :) I noticed we share a bunch of interests, so this can prove to be a lot of fun!

Yes, the twins have been my favourites before the movie was launched as well, considering that I first read the books when I was around 12. And I feel a sudden urge to re-read them (the 7th time perhaps) again, too. So perhaps I'll find the time to do it, comment them with you, and even write some fiction. It's quite strange that, although I'm usually not very fond of slash/incest fiction, the idea of Leto/Ghanima always attracted me. Perhaps because it's somehow quite canon-ish?

Yes, I think both Alia and Irulan deserved better, but the whole Atreides family was struck by tragedy and drama, so I guess this was their destiny and it had to be fulfilled, for some kind of greater good. Although I'm not that sure of what the Bene Gesserit understood as "greater good".

I an not that fond of slash/incest fiction neither but it is true – Leto and Ghanima are different. The whole universe is different in "Dune" and this may be the reason too.

This is what got me confused at the end – both Leto and Bene Gasserit were trying to achieve the best path for the humanity. And I really expected that Leto would do that but he didn't , at the end..

Yes. He ended up being known and feared as a tyrant, although there still was a touch of humanity inside him. He was still able to love. I think I'm talking about God and Emperor here, because Chapter House it's about other sort of stuff. It's quite blurry, I actually should revise my reading of these amazing books, as soon as I'll get some time. After all, Frank Herbert is my favourite Sci-Fi author, I found no one able to compare to him so far, so I should pay him my annual respect, and re-read the whole collection, lol.

And I think you're right concerning the so-called incest in this universe. After all, it was a concept that had kept the Egyptian dynasties alive, and it was quite accepted by the Celts as well, at least from what I've read in Mists of Avalon :p Of course, in the twins' case, it's more something like a political move, but I'm not sure Ghanima ever had some feelings for Farad'n, and plus, Leto knew so well what he'll become, and perhaps ... argh. I'm so messy when I think at the same time I write, lol. Even my grammar gets worse :D

You have completely persuaded me - I have decided to re-read "Children of DUNE" ! The whole twins incest thing is very deeply explored in "A song of ice and fire" books..

Hehe, I might start re-reading it soon, too. I'd be glad to exchange opinions and thoughts on it, whenever you're available :)

Ah. Martin, I think. I've bought the second book of his (trilogy or quadrilogy, I'm not sure) recently, but I can't find the first one. I'll search online. I wanted so much to read it! This means it's a very interesting reading, if you liked it and you'd rec it to me.

YAAY! Let's do a re-read!

Martin's books are one of my favourite series! I really rec!!!

Thanks for the rec, then. It comes from various members of my f-list, so I should really do it, as soon as I'll get the books somehow.

Re-read it shall be. I'll probably start next week ;)
