I admit with shame that I had not known who Vidocq was until I watched the film. But whatever little I have read about him in Wiki is very fascinating. And he was an inspiration for the main character in "Les Miserables" Interestingly, Vidocq has a definite "Les Miserables" feel and Depardieu plays both Vidocq and Jean Valjean!..
