I always found that Mal was full of love for his crew and for Inara. In fact, I thought he had to keep fighting not to sacrifice everything and everyone around him just to be with her.

Oh, I am trying to think this too, after "Serenity". When he went to recue her all on his own and was so happy even thought it was a trap and then said "I came there for you". But I was very happy. I wish we had more more more!

I do agree, actually. Tragic love never ends, very many happy loves have a "boring" ending. :D
