Football boys

The truth is I am really getting into the "World Cup" mood. Like I am so much looking forward to watching it on TV and shouting all such things. And eating a lot of chocolate ice-cream and pop-corn. It is going to be a great fun!

Icons of my favourite football boys (in no particular order. Zinedine Zidane is probably THE favourite of mine.). The idea of making these icons is coming from the conversation with lovely [livejournal.com profile] lage_nom_ai. She is THE MUSE!!!

- Young Kaka's "Yay me" (icon number 1)
- Cheeky Ronaldinho (icons number 2-4)
- Ronaldo's smile (5)
- Very thoughtful David Beckham (6)
- Michael Owen's eagle eyes (7)
- Stephen Gerrard (8)
- football which is going to be kicked in the game between Germany and Costa Rica (9)
- Thierry Henry THE cute (10-12)
- Zinedine Zidane's freckles (13-14)
- Michael Ballack's pouting (15-16)
- Ginger-haired Oliver Kahn (Kahn, the Titan) (17)
- Gorgeous Luca Toni (18-19)

I wonder if long hair interfere with the football playing or help it (like some sort of a flag?) Hee!

Heh! Well, Edgar Davids, who was one of my favorite players, always had very long hair; as did Gabriel Batistuta, another favorite. And ALL of the Italian team :P (Set against that, of course, there is the bald Zidane, and the shaven-headed - at one time, anyway - Beckham!)

I just like the shot that you used for this one very much - and of course, my title for this icon is 'beautiful game' :P

I am a huge fan of Gabriel Batistuta! I find it absolutely great that he is married for many years to the girl he met at 16. And how he said "Te amo, Irina" when he scored that goal. Aww! I think it is so romantic!

In a case you would like an original, it is Here (http://www.alexandra1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Ron.jpg)

One of my best friends is Argentinean, so I feel always obligated to cheer the Argentina team – and Batistuta was one of my favorites. (I felt bad for him the last World Cup and sorry that we won’t be seeing him there again.)

Constitutionally, I always cheer primarily for Italy (because I love Italy even though I don't particularly like their national style); the Netherlands (because I love them, and I remember van Basten and Davids and all those fantastic guys!); and Brazil, although less for them, because they are never underdogs in any match :P

I like Argentinian team very much, they are always very good, and as you say , they not as sure favourites as Brasil but at the same time they have that passionate style of South American football (though I adore Brasilian style the most and they have some really great charismatic players in Brazil!).

And I am trying to be patriotic and support English guys. Here in England football fans are very much against Argentinian team ever since Maradona scored "The hand of god" goal in the quarter final in 1986 with England. I have double feelings on the matter - Maradona cheated with the goal, but he was so great at the time! I can't really hold a grudge..

I like Italian team, I like their "national character". It is very interesting to watch..

And, Man! Basten was fantastic!
