alexandral: (Powerful opponents - hard day)

EEEEEEEE! I have been really really good this week, finishing my unfinished dramas as if there is no tomorrow! "Pick the Stars" was a very typical Korean family drama; it was as far from any reality as you can get, packed to the brim with clichés, stereotypes and family love, but did it all well and made you feel better about the world. Can you find anywhere in the world a rather low intelligence lazy girl who would turn into a shrewd hard-worker the minute her parents die (simultaneously, under the wheels of a lorry sent by evil relatives)? No, I don't think so. But at the same time – isn't it nice to see this transformation happening (overnight)? And isn't it nice to watch the bundle of evil secondary girls, lost grandchildren, awful mothers, transplants of something I didn't even know existed in human body and all such things, whist having a cup of tea and a cake?

Needless to say, I enjoyed "Pick the Stars". I just wish the number of Pal Kang's brothers and sisters was a little smaller as five was way too much and that we also had kissing scenes sooner; leaving the kissing until the end of the episode 19 was not at all acceptable. But the ending is ridiculously good and satisfying to the extreme.

Now I can watch "Cinderella's sister". :D

I thought Cinderella is a bit like Mi Nam too, only this is a different type of drama (or may be just the timing) and Mi Nam didn't get anyone smacked on their faces because of her silly antics.

I think also for me personally - I find Park Shin Hye to be very cute (and I find her face-making cute) but I find Seo Woo's face to be on odd side (did she have a surgery? does she cry a lot to make her eyes swollen?) . I am so sorry - I think on purely visceral level the actress is not agreeing with me so far. It might get better, though, I was the same with Chae Rim in "Dal Ja's Spring" but after "Powerful opponents" - I started liking her.

But as you say, she is not the protagonist so this is not a problem.

I also loved him sitting in the wine cellar after his family meeting and thinking of EJ.

Yes! And he said "I've got you!" as if she is something of his personal, belonging only to him, stuff.

Yeah, but that smack made sense - it's not unreasonable of Hyo Sun to want to find out what is going on - Stepmom said EJ is abused in school and EJ said she isn't. HS should have been more nuanced, EJ was way out of line shoving her and Stepmother was out of line slapping. They are all wrong but stepmother the most - HS and EJ are kids and stepmother is an adult - and she only did it with calculation - to make her new husband happy. Oh, poor EJ! I loved the look on Ki Hoon's face during that scene because he totally understood her.

It was totally silly of Hyo Sun to get drunk and act like that at school! Going to school drunk = totally spoiled or incredibly stupid. Or both. The shove wasn't as big as to make anyone fall, unless they were drunk. I am not justifying EJ's actions here, but she didn't want her to fall, I am sure. She is not THAT stupid, she knew what was going to happen.
