YAY! for that. :) It's lovely to find a new hobby isn't it. I took up Gregorian chant 10 years ago and it's been fun. I'm not really a singer but my voice has gotten so much better over the years.

Congratulations!!! I skated for about 8 years until a back injury put a stop to it :( I did freestyle and dance ... what are you doing?

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
WOW! I love singing, I don't think I am particular good but I love doing it, in the church we had a choir once , it didn't last long but I loved going.

I am not sure yet - I think my trainer does dance.. I used to do iceskating lessons as a child, it feels so good to get back to it. It is of these sports that exercises the whole body.

It's a fantastic exercise ... I loved how it toned and strengthened me all over :)

Yeah, I love singing, always have. Must be why I like songs that one can sing along with too. The best part about Greagorian is that you really don't need be a good singer as technique is different. Sounds are mostly modelled 'in your mouth' and with lips rather than in the troat area. But your normal singing voice does get better too. A lot of it is in the proper breathing.

Yay, skating! I am terrible at it but still enjoy my classes very much.

FAntastic! It is also so much about the balance - this is why I encouraged Sasha to go. At the start she found it difficult, but she clicked with her trainer (the same one I practiced with today) and now she loves it!

Hee! I hope you improve quickly - one of my working colleagues started this 2 years ago and now he is REALLY good.

Yay! How wonderful!!!! You are such an awesome skater!

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The Gregorian singing sounds interesting!!!!!

A lot of it is in the proper breathing.

hee! Indeed - I remember this from the school choir. It was compulsory , but I wish I paid more attention!

I am on holidays at the moment so I had chance to take a lesson with the trainer. I must say, I am pleased. :D mr. Alexander is ever so impressed too. :D Have you tried to ice skate?

[identity profile] miss-dian.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I've gone ice skating before but only once or twice. I am not good at all. I have this mental fear that if I fall, someone would pass by me and I am afraid of what could happen to my hands and fingers [>_<] If I skate holding hands with someone who is good, though, I am sure it would be a lot of fun. Also, I have no idea how to brake! :D

If you ever come to Leeds again in winter we can go ice skating for a bit, there is an ice skating rink in Millennium square!!

I get the fear of the fingers cut off - ice skates can be quite sharp. ;D MAy be it can help to do it whilst wearing thick gloves? But I agree- you need to be quite careful!!

Ice skating! Awesome!

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I LOVE it! I am on holidays and watching a large amounts of dramas - I need some physical exercise!

[identity profile] meles-kuila.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Good for you!! Is this something you've always wanted to do or was it more of a spur-of-the-moment type thing?

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I go to the ice rink every week with my daughter - but prior to today I haven't taken any lessons myself. I have been wanting to do it for ages, though - I used to do ice skating lessons as a child. I am so pleased the lesson went well!!

[identity profile] darkeyedwolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish we had ice skating around here! *pines*

I like yours too. :D

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No ice-skating? Can't be right! We even have an outdoor skating rink in Leeds, a bit tricky when it rains, though.

a natural talent discovered! Awesome! is it hereditary??

[identity profile] lage-nom-ai.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Eeeeee, yay for ice skating!

[identity profile] mnemo-syne.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, cool! Good for you! Your enthusiasm makes me smile. :D

Awesome! I would love to take figure skating lessons one day. I was quite lousy at it when I was small. I never had any formal training, I think that's why. I know some people pick it just fine up on their own, and I'm not one of those. Anyway, good luck and have lots of fun! (I'm sure you will :) )

[identity profile] allbloomedout.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
EEEE! Wow 8 levels in 45 mins sounds very fast! I'll love to try ice skating one day! :)

[identity profile] arathisiewen.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
*squee*

I remember liking ice skating and wish I could take lessons.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I used to take lessons when I was a child and was on quite a high level back then, I can't claim this to be a natural talent. :D

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Any excuse for exercise that is NOT QUITE exercise. :D

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I am a crazy fan of ice skating, it is such a pity we don't get good coverage of international competitions here in the UK.

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! I find ice-skating to be a good form of exercise that is fun at the same time. I was quite good as a child, but I am enjoying it much more now!

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ice skating is fab! You must try one day!

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you can take lessons one day - it is such a fun excercise!!!

[identity profile] arathisiewen.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
It is! But I used to know how to turn and now just CAN'T... my leg won't relax...

[identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, dear! MAy be you need to give it some time?

[identity profile] arathisiewen.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Or be more relaxed in general maybe.
