I think people interpreted the alternative ending as the real ending in which the whole series was just a fantasy of the writer Taeyoung. I guess it made people feel like they were taken for a ride to be so invested in the couple and then find out that they are only a figment of imagination of another figment of imagination.
I think this is the same what the other lady said. I think that the true meaning of the ending of "Lovers in Paris" is may be easy to miss (and the same happened with "The Legend" where all people on soompi thought DD died until the director explained the ending), especially when you watch it in RL way and not on computer screen as I did where you can easily rewind/re-read.
There is a crucial moment when the screenwriter TY reads a newspaper that says "Kijoo Han of GD Motors a happy ending with his fiancee, Taeyoung Kang in Paris". After the screenwriter TY reads it she says "l'm so happy for them". IMHO (I am 100% positive, actually) this means that the first couple also exist - they are REAL couple in real world and the second couple exists in the same real world, etc.. etc.. But the newspaper flashes quite quickly, I must say, so may be it was easier for me to notice as I had subs that translated the newspaper headings.
Plus the screenwriter also writes a similar story.. So it is like a timeless story of Cinderella that comes back again and again, may be even in other places of the world. Hee! It is a bit too "complex" for a drama, may be.. :D However, may be this is why I liked it so much. :D And the fact that they also made Soo-hyuk happy too.
PS: I also re-watched HGD's ending in order to see if there is anything that people missed that shows that HGD didn't really die, but alas, I could not find anything. I'll try again when the subs will be out. I still can't believe that it is just finished LIKE THIS.
