Hong Gil Dong : the first half!!

I have just finished the episode 12 of this 24-episode Korean drama-variation of the Robin Hood legend. It is getting even better and better!

MUST GO TO SLEEP, but just before I do it:

- Chang Hui aka the Black Prince is my favourite secondary character among all secondary characters in Asian dramas. His doubts, his search of the path he belongs on, his hopeless (we know it, let's face it!) love for Yi Nok; everything is just awesome.

- Did I say I wasn't sure about Yi Nok? I am eating my hat here because she is full of adorkableness. Dancing Cobras, for one thing!!!!!!!!!!

- Hong Gil Dong! I want to hit you on your big head for hiding from Yi Nok for a whole year. Oh, why do men in fiction (what a cliché!) have always to presume that they know better what is better for their OTP? NOT ON, I say! It is clearly better for any girl not to spend a whole year in pain of losing someone she loved.

- You know what I like? Eun Hye' s father. He is so funny! "The root of all power". Ha-ha-ha!!!! And his interactions with Hong Gil Dong's step-mother are just beyond hilarious in a very present-day way. This actor was so great in "My Girl" too!

- Some wonderfully pretty scenes. I don't know if I am obsessed enough to make icons as I find it too hard to make icons from dorama screencaps.

My prediction for the ending: Yi Nok and The Prince will be arranged to be married at some point. And the Prince will become the new king and be good at this, continuing his love/hate relationship with Hong Gil Dong. Then Yi Nok will have some usual struggles and decide that the live of noblity is not for her and that she loves Hong Gil Dong and not Chang Hui. Seeing this, Chang Hui will let her go and secretly smuggle both Yi Nok and Hong Gil Dong on a ship to China. Or may be make Hong Gil Dong the new police chief. THE END.

Hong Gil Dong – The Legend is born:

The Prince is happy that Yi Nok is happy to see him back from China:

NO! She is just so happy because he brought her a new dancing Cobra:

But He smiles anyways as HE is so glad to see Yi Nok.

No words. Yi Nok and Hong Gil Dong. He is so aware that he is holding HER in his arms:

Yo Nok is plotting her transformation into the Moonlight Warrior lady:

The Moonlight Warrior lady aka Yi Nok.

The Prince, in darkness and in doubt.

Hong Gil Dong meeting the Prince. I love Kang Ji Kwan here, is so secretly pleased but so not showing it.

The Magnificent 5

Hong Gil Dong looking pretty with that blue/red colour combination.

Just because: The Prince smiling again.

The prince didn't look nearly that girly in Hwang Jin Yi...

Hee! They have some interesting hair solutions in "Hong Gil Dong". :D I generally do not approve of wigs. (In other news, I am so relieved with the turn Ueda's hair took in the season 2 of "Trick" :D)

The Prince is often full of angst and difficult existential questions and when this happens he looks much less "girly" than when he smiles. :D

I've come to accept wigs as a necessary evil, as men don't go around with long hair anymore(usually.)

I suspect you'll be surprised by the prince when you watch Hwang Jin Yi.

** nods ** Still makes a difference when, like in "The Legend" they have their own long hair. ** swoons again remembering DD **

For the good? For the bad? "Hwang Jin Yi's tragic first love" doesn't mean he is going to be some BAD character?

HAH! No, but he's very sweet, naive and earnest, but also a stupid young boy in love at times(not stupid as in dumb, but in the "not always thinking things through" way...it's a very sad look at young love vs. class and duty in the time period.)

THANK you!!! ** is relieved **. It is not even funny how much I am getting attached to this actor.

In "Hong Gil Dong" it is more of "A very Machiavellian young boy with the lot of baggage on a road to self-discovery". Quite a lot of thinking-through, you see. :D
